Its just a MATTER of fact.
who: MATTER
where: The O2, Peninsula Square, London
what do we think: probably the best club in London

London’s best club has arrived. With the departure of so many of London’s longest running legends having closed their door and now with the end announcing its departure, Matter; the new super club from the people who brought you Fabric, has now arrived.
Located at the O2 and fitting 2,600 people it’s a new venue of 32,737 sq ft and a main sound system based round a Martin Audio w8L Lowbow Line Array.
Upon arrival, the experience of the sound in an almost empty club, at just the right volume was just crystal clear sound with a perfect low hum.
The design is super slick, minimal & elegant. A grey concrete tinge covers most of the first and second floor enhance by subtle lighting hidden along the bass of the walls and all sitting. To compare it to fabric – its taken the awe of what Fabric is without losing itself within itself. Everything is focused around the main dancefloor with 2 more floors above it all looking down towards the centre.
What really has to be said about Matter, is its visual element. Something London clubs have somehow had almost no concern with was that most clubs across the world place great pride in their video aid to enhance the whole clubbing experience and Matter does just this. This is where the bare design of the walls come to life. It’s a blank canvas for video display & you expect to see plenty of cleverly crafted videos being projected onto just about everything including the speakers.
So overall it’s a brilliant venue! I’ve not been really impressed with many venues in London since I first moved here and experienced clubbing here so this is great! There is the small draw-back of its location.
For most people trekking to the O2 may seem like a hindrance. We can only hope that the standard of entertainment Fabric has through its creative and consistent line-ups will continue in this new territory and not have to shell out on just the biggest names to pull in the crowds needed.
