Henry Saiz has created his own formula, a complex and emotive electronic club music which brings together melody, intensity, depth and maximum attention to detail. The sound of this producer , drinks from he well of the most melodic source of experimental electronic, using progressive structures close to trance and adding an elaborated rhythmic bass with traces of funk and acid.

word and rhythm have a quick word with henry saiz about this podcast and his setups...

W&R: Hi Henry! Thanks for getting involved with W&R – and thanks even more for recording our first ever podcast! Being a live performer do you think that has an effect on how you record your mixes? Do you try to record a mix that shows how you might perform live or is it more about the listening pleasure ?

henry saiz : Hi! Great to be on board. ;) Of course as a producer I try with every mix to create a complete experience and the general sound of the mix it´s also very important. The sound quallity is part of the listening pleassure.

W&R: What does your live setup involve and does any of this transfer into
your mixes ?

hs: My live set is laptop based, with a midi controller, synths and some other hardware tools. For dj sets I prefer to work with this digital gear too, don´t play vinyls or cds because I need tools like ableton live for making really creative sets, mixing for example 5 tracks with
maybe a loop from an old movie and a lot of audio tools, this is impossible with a couple of vinyls or cds...

w&R: are you planning any technical advances in your live setups ?

hs: My new live setup includes a vestax vcm-600 controller, an access virus snow for synths, a midi keyboard for playing some melodies, i even perform some melodies with my ipod-touch. I will include in this setup everything that can make better my performance.

w&r: How do you go about mastering your podcast ?
hs: With this one in particular I just did a pretty basic mastering, in wavelab, some limiting and compression for the master, nothing else. But every mix needs a specific treatment I think...

w&R: Whats the one thing you wish you could do more of in your live sets ?
hs: Maybe jumping more? Haha No, In the future I will include a real drummer
in my sets, sometimes I wish some band action in the shows.
