House giants Stealth launch their new line of compilation mix CDs with a difference…They won’t be recorded in some sterile studio environment, instead they will all be recorded LIVE at a Stealth Party meaning you get it as it was on the night. To kick start off this series they enlisted the talents of rising superstar Laidback Luke.
You’ll probably know that Luke can knock up a phat beat in his studio no problem but what you may not have known is that this mofo can mix like food blender on high speed! He’s definitely got some skills. You’ll hear him chopping, looping and applying cool sounding affects over his mixes which you wont be used to from most other leading brand mix compilations and also, as it is mixed live there’s none of this letting the track play till the last 30 seconds before starting the next mix, it’s a fast paced raw dj set designed to rock the Stealth dance floor, and now your home, i-pod and car.
The track selection stays true to the Stealth identity, it’s a big n chunky modern housy vibe with loads of hands in the air moments, wicked invasive synths, massive killer drops and a great play order. With music from the likes of Luke himself and rmx’s of Steve Angello and Roger Sanchez tracks this will appeal to a wider audience while tracks from artists such as Idiot Savers, Bingo Players and Clp keep a real raw element to this mix. Even this hardcore underground Dj found himself screwing his face up and aggressively nodding to this mix whilst writing this review.
Another great thing about this mix is that way the crowd were recorded at the event and added over some of the mixes which helps to create a good listening experience, you almost feel like you were there and as it’s only done at certain points rather than every mix it doesn’t get annoying.
Overall I was really impressed by this package and Laidback Luke’s mixing ability, it will definitely get you in the mood before clubbing next weekend and will probably come on at the after party too.
Anyone who takes the whole sub genre thing too seriously may not appreciate this but if your simply into good music you will enjoy it.
