Destination? An Australian based label quickly gaining a reputation for their brand of upfront electro. This compilation mix package sees one of the most exciting and talked about duos to emerge from the big OZ since Kylie & Jason as well as Destination? label bosses Signal Drivers have team up with the one of the most pioneering forces of the new electro movement Miles Dyson.
Your treated to almost two and a half hours of musical goodness consisting of brand new and older tracks based over two very different electro mixes which features music from cutting edge producers from around the world such as Stupid Fresh, Kid Dub, AC Slater, Hijack, Aaren San, Elite Force, Calvertron, Bart B More as well as music from both Miles Dyson and Signal Drivers.
The 1st mix is provided by Miles Dyson and in true Dyson fashion this mix comes at you as if you owed it a lot of money that you refused to pay. It starts of rather melodically with fantastic mood building pads, synths and crashes sitting on top of some very moody aggressive bass lines before embarking on a fast paced journey covering filthy Electro, Electro-Tech and a touch of aggressive Indy-Electro to boot. It features plenty of tracks from Dyson him self, both tracks that you’ll know and a few unreleased gems that you will aggressively enjoy. As well as using the normal mixing techniques you expect to hear on a compilation mix there a couple of mixes were Dyson uses unconventional mixing techniques as well as bridges to mix into the next track which is quite refreshing to hear.
The 2nd mix by The Signal Drivers is a totally different experience. This is an hour 13 mins worth of pure wonky fidgety goodness. It’s full of quirky vocal samples, strange noises and bass lines that bend you over as if they were about to give you something unexpected, which they do. It features very cool tracks and remixes from the Drivers them selves and takes you on a very unpredictable but enjoyable ride. This will have you doing strange head nods on the tube to work.
Both mixes are very enjoyable and will sit in your cd player for some time and if you’re a dj you will spend time hunting down the track list on your preferred mp3 site as I did.
