Driving down for my first Press Launch Party, I really did not know what to expect. Even as I approached the entrance, it didn’t even seem that packed. However, the minute I got inside, it was jammed.
They had the chill room open, as they usually do on the week-days. And some dj duo was playing old school sounding garage. I later found out that it was Chase and Status. The atmosphere was kinda light and chatty and I went about snapping pictures and shakin hands with people and stuff. Slowly, they (chase & status) moved into Dubstep… immediately the entire room went off. It was impossible to move about. There is something strangely brutal yet cool about how slow those bass lines hit you. I recognized several of the tracks as Chase and Status tunes. It was a thick vibe to say the least. The duo then moved on to play a medley of all of their own dnb tracks. Pretty OK, not bad. I prefer their dubstep tunes and enjoyed the SHY FX set more to be honest.
I later realized that we were the guinea pigs for the Official Chase & Status Album Launch which is in November 2008.
