Re-Wire

Venue: GRAMAPHONE, LONDON UK

headliners: SABRE, NICOL, AMANING October 25, 2008

by Jaymz Clart

Informal have been running events from as early as 2005 and their latest outing, RE-WIRE at the gramophone turned out pretty OK. The Gramaphone along Commercial St is a nice cosy venue with a great soundsystem. Not too big, so a small crowd of 50 – 100 could easily fill it up.

I arrived just in time for Amaning’s set, ordered me a double vodka redbull and sat back for the ride. Crowd was pretty up for it and the vibe was pretty good. Amaning’s set did not disappoint at all, going on a deep yet techy journey. I was a bit bored in the 2nd hour when Nicol came on. I mean, I like my jump-up, but not for a full hour. To me, that was like playing 20 versions of the same song over and over again. But he got the crowd moving, so what can I say? The highlight of the night for me was Sabre. He went deep and techy all the way. The crowd loved it. A good night overall.
